So this is just a friendly reminder to our lovely customers about the vaccination requirements for your furry friends…
Over the last few years since the covid pandemic, and as many of our customers will know, there’s been a bit of a problem with supplies of the booster vaccination for cats. Vets haven’t been able to get enough of the medication and have prioritised kittens and cats with compromised immunity. They have been more relaxed about the interval between vaccinations, extending it from the usual year to 15 months. On the advice of our vets, we have followed this guideline. Now things are starting to return to normal, we just wanted to remind you about the vaccination requirements.
It’s one of the conditions of our operating licence that all cats coming into our cattery must be fully vaccinated against cat flu, feline enteritis and feline leukaemia; and you must be able to bring with you evidence of that – preferably the vaccination certificate from your vet, but failing that, a print out of your cat’s medical history or an e-mail from your vet confirming the vaccination status This is for everyone’s protection – not just your own cat but others being boarded here. If your cat is not vaccinated, or you can’t provide evidence to confirm that he / she is, please don’t ask us to accept them for boarding as we’ll have to say ‘no’ and we really don’t want to do that. There are a few very limited circumstances where we can accept unvaccinated cats and we’ll happily talk to you about that when you enquire to make a booking. Vets generally recognise the importance of this to a cattery owner, and most will prioritise vaccinations for cats coming into the cattery.
