Jerry's story...
Elvia tells us
“Well, Jerry didn’t have a great start in life. His owner found him with a broken back leg when he was a few weeks old and took him to a vets to be put to sleep. The vet said he was healthy but the owner didn’t want to pay for an operation, and was concerned about ongoing medical bills, so the vet did the operation to remove his leg. While he was recovering, the nurse then looked after him, and then when he was a few months old he was handed over to Cat’s Protection. The poor little fella had 3 owners in almost as many months.
This is when I saw this little boy’s story, and myself and my husband decided to go and see about adopting him. When we got there and met him, he took to us straight away and we spent over an hour there. They said he wasn’t a very good eater and it would be better for him to be homed sooner than later to finally get him settled. We did all the paperwork, paid the fee and picked him up the next day. I sat on the floor for a couple of weeks hand feeding him – and he is still a picky eater! Jerry is starting to calm down a little bit now – he was very lively as a young kitten! – and to see him run around you really wouldn’t know that he only has 3 legs. He will be 3 years old in June this year and has wonderful holidays at Hilgay Cats Whiskers with Aunties Cheryl and Jane and Uncle Peter. They look after him like they would their own. He will miss you guys when you retire but looks forward to meeting the new owner”.
