A Tale of Two Cities Kitties…
‘it was the worst of times, it was the best of times’ (with apologies to Charles Dickens)
So if you’re a regular viewer of our FB posts, you might have spotted Billy & Rosa, two of our gang of black cats who’ve come from slightly challenging times to good times – here are their stories.
Billy came to stay with us in June, after his mum called us to say she was concerned about the cattery she had originally booked him into where he’d been for a couple of days. He needed boarding because his mum and dad were on holiday pre moving house, and like so many of our customers, wanted their precious cat safely out of harm’s way while the move was happening. On mum’s say so, Pete & I collected Billy from the other cattery and brought him to us – and the rest as they say, is history. Billy has now been with us for more than 2 months and will almost certainly be here ’til around October. He’s become a firm favourite with all of us – especially Pete! – and is one of the most chilled, relaxed cats you’ll ever meet. We’ve had to move him to a new chalet a couple of times to accommodate other diary bookings, and he just takes it all ín his stride; we think he actually likes to have a different view of the world. And because he’s a long stayer, with his mum’s permission and to give him a bit of exercise, we’ve started to take him for walks around the garden on a harness and lead, which he absolutely loves – it does him so much good to feel the grass under his adorable little paws. Apart from walks, his other passion in life is chewy sticks – he’d live on these if he could! Gorgeous Billy, we all love you very much.
Little Rosa came to us in May last year after her mum was taken into hospital. This was a long stay – she was with us for the best part of 6 months as mum was pretty poorly. Rosa has been with her mum since she was only around 6 weeks old, and is now nearly 13 years old, so this was a challenge for her to adjust to new surroundings. She became super attached to Jane, and I think – well, I know! -the feeling was completely mutual. Rosa eventually went home to her mum in October. Mum needs support, and on her return home, support passed to a new care provider, who were given Jane’s contact details in case Rosa needed to come into the cattery again. And 2 weeks ago, exactly that happened. Jane received a phone call late one evening from the carer, to say that Rosa’s mum had been taken back into hospital and Rosa was home alone and needed to be looked after. Jane went to collect Rosa the next day and brought her to us, where she, just like Billy, has taken it all in her stride and adapted really well to cattery life again – and to seeing her pal Jane! Fingers crossed, she will be able to go home to her mum before too much longer.
How lovely is it that both Billy’s and Rosa’s humans trust us to take care of their precious furry friend. At the Cat’s Whiskers, we will always go the extra mile to make sure that your own marvellous moggies are taken care of exactly as you’d want. And if we need to go above and beyond, we will.
