Our “Blue Badge cats…
So, here at The Cat’s Whiskers, we pride ourselves on our ability and expertise to look after a whole range of cats.   From tiny kittens – 12 week old Luna was our most recent guest – to the elderly, including our superstar 22 year-old Norman, we happily accommodate and take care of them all.
And we have some very special cats on our books, who have a disability or special needs – our ‘Blue Badge’  cats.

Cats with only three legs – Ollie, Stormzy, Poppie, Tilly.  Cats with one eye – Marley, Lloyd.  Cats who are partially or profoundly deaf – Negan, Alfie.  Cats who have limited or no vision – Dexter, Electra, Alfie.

And cats who for a variety of reasons, including dementia, cancer, diabetes and thyroid problems, need specialist care and medication.   Whatever life throws at you and your cuddly companions, you can rest assured that when they come into The Cat’s Whiskers, they’ll be treated with the same level of care and compassion that you give them at home.   We provide steps to give a lift up to those who’re less mobile, either through loss of a limb or simply because they’re elderly, and if steps aren’t appropriate, a comfy bed on the floor is always an option.   For cats with sight problems, we try to accommodate them in the same chalet each time they visit, so they’re familiar with their surroundings, and we talk to them constantly and let them smell us, so they get used to who we are.   For cats with hearing problems, we’ve learned to approach them very gently, making sure they see us and are aware of our presence before we touch them so we don’t startle them.   And most importantly we’ve learnt to not get irritated when they yell, loudly, at inappropriate times because they simply don’t know how loud they’re being!   And we’re adept at medicating, whatever it is, from tablets to insulin injections.

So if your fabulous feline has any sort of ‘special needs’, don’t let that put you off bringing him or her to us – we will happily deal with pretty much anything!

We are always ready to take on your furry friends at The Cat’s Whiskers cattery.

Call us, email us, whenever.
